Third Officer (3/O)

3/O reports to the Master (through C/O).
In absence of 2/O, 3/O may be required to officiate as 2/O, subject to prior approval from DPA.

Responsibilities -
1. Keep the 8 o�clock � 12 o�clock navigational watch.
2. Maintain inventory of lifeboat equipments.
3. Maintain inventory of life saving appliances (eg. EPIRB, SART, life-rafts, breathing apparatus).
4. Maintain all life saving equipments in �Always-Ready-For-Use� condition.
5. Maintain signaling appliances (eg. Aldis lamps, sirens, horns, flags).
6. Maintain pyrotechnic equipments in proper condition.
7. Take station on the bridge and attend to activities (as instructed by C/O) while entering or leaving harbor, and whilst anchoring and departing from anchorage.
8. Supervise helmsmen during maneuvering.
9. Keep records of any adverse meteorological observation.
10. Assist C/O during cargo operations (if required).
11. Perform other duties as assigned by Master (depending on situation).
